- Plant of the month: Bedding plants

Bedding plants
Big flowers, small flowers. Climbing, hanging and creeping. For use in beds, in pots and containers, and in hanging baskets. With bedding plants as bringers of colour you can bring spring to a garden, patio or balcony instantly.
From mid-May until mid-October you can enjoy bedding plants outdoors in your garden. With these annuals you can instantly transform your surroundings into a colourful sea of flowers.Bedding plants come in many different types, colours and sizes. We would like to highlight three of them:
Pansies
The Greeks and Romans grew them for the beautiful scent, and they are still popular every year: pansies. The plant symbolises remembrance, which means that it is often planted as a gesture of love. With its cheerful colours it is a real garden favourite.
The plants may look fragile, but they’re not. Pansies (Viola) are pretty tough. Basically all types of pansies stay beautiful for a long time; you can enjoy them from early spring to late autumn.
Petunia
The petunia flowers from May to September. It is a full, colourful annual which brightens your garden with its extravagance. Originally petunias only came in white and purple, but nowadays we see them in a host of colours. The yellow petunia in particular is enjoying growing popularity. It is an easy to grow and does well in a bed, but also in pots and hanging baskets.
Begonia
There are some 1895 types of begonia, which can be broadly divided into two groups: the flowering begonias and the foliage begonias. Flowering begonias can produce small flowers in every colour imaginable: red, orange, white, yellow, pink or even multiple colours on a single plant. Foliage begonias on the other hand do not produce any flowers. This type is known for its velvety leaves with fabulous markings. In addition to green, foliage begonias come in all sorts of appealing colours such as bright pink, red and silver, like the Begonia Corallina - green with silver spots - or the colourful Begonia Maculata. They are true works of art!
